Frozen Shoulder Syndrome

frozen_shoulder-full

‘Adhesive Capsulitis’, also known as frozen shoulder, is a disorder whereby the shoulder capsule – which is the connective tissue around the glenohumeral shoulder joint – becomes stiff and inflamed; resulting in chronic pain and greatly restricting motion.

Frozen Shoulder Syndrome is a disabling and painful condition which causes a lot of frustration for both patients and caregivers due to the slow recovery time. Shoulder movement will be severely restricted.

Even small tasks can be impossible to complete due to the restricted movement, and the pain is quite constant, often increasing when the weather is colder and at night. Just a small bump or sudden movement can create tremendous pain and/or cramping that might last for several minutes.

There’s no known cause for this condition, and sadly it can last for a long time – somewhere between five months and three or more years.

In some cases it’s thought to be caused by trauma or injury to the area; it’s also believed that there may be an autoimmune component whereby the body attacks the healthy tissue in the capsule. Movement is further restricted because there’s a loss of fluid in the joint.

In addition to difficulty with everyday tasks, people who suffer from adhesive capsulitis usually experience problems sleeping for extended periods due to pain that is worse at night and restricted movement/positions. The condition also can lead to depression, pain, and problems in the neck and back.

At Chronic Conditions Center, we truly feel like our Frozen Shoulder program is second to none.  Dr. Zuckerman is a Registered Trigenics Physician (RTP) and has had phenomenal success with this problem.  Trigenics is a hands-on, functional neurology technique, which helps to reset the way the muscles of the shoulder girdle allow the joint to move.

Many Frozen Shoulder patients are frequently amazed at how quickly we can improve range of motion and decrease pain with our program.  If accepted, you will experience the Trigenics Myoneural Reduction Therapy and will also most likely have Cold Laser Therapy.
